County Puts Out Downtown Redevelopment Plan

The County has put out its revised Downtown Columbia Redevelopment Plan.

Go read it and let me know what you think. Together as a community we can create a redeveloped downtown that advances the quality of life in our community.

The Focus Group will meet again on Wednesday, October 10th from 4pm to 6pm. The location and the agenda haven't been announced yet, but I will link to them as soon as I find out.

All meeting dates, times and locations are available on the Meeting Calendar (PDF), which is on DPZ's Downtown Columbia page.

Whatever happened to the Route 1 revitilization (Elkridge, Savage and North Laurel) plan?

The Howard County Dems held a picnic earlier this month at Savage Park. I found hypocritcal of our elected officials coming to Savage for a few photo ops and free burgers having done nothing for the town of Savage.

My name is Jeff Amoros and I am a journalism student at the University of Maryland working on an article about Downtown Redevelopment. I need to interview people about this between now and monday morning. Feel free to e-mail me at jamoros@umd.edu if you would like to comment; the article is only for in-class and will not be published. Thank you!

How do you think the "Tower" issue will affect downtown? How should it?

Redevelopment? Seems more like an Overdevelopment Plan, paving the way for sweeping changes without sufficient consideration of the known and unknown costs, consequences, and losses.

Anon,

What are these known and unknown costs that you speak of? Specifics would be appropriate, and would foster dialogue and discussion.
