Last Nights Fun

Just to give you an idea of what we were up against in trying to get precinct results last night:

For the couple precincts we did get the results for we had strips like these for each voting machine that we had to go through, add up the machines for that precinct and then post. Many precincts had 7 plus machines. Not quite what I had expected and one of the major reasons things ended up going VERY slowly.

Thanks HayDuke for the photo.

Sure is a good thing that voting is done electronically, huh? The MUST be an easier way to consolidate the returns. Isn't that what computers are supposed to do for us?

That being said, the issues in other area were purely man-made. Card missing, officials not showing up to polls. Can't blame those on electronic voting.

As an election worker I can tell you from first hand experience that the mistakes were mostly from pitiful software programming and poor training. Diebold owns much of the blame and the elections official(s) who purchased the machines and software are, in my opinion, equally at fault.

My biggest concern is this http://itpolicy.princeton.edu/voting/ That is simply unacceptable in every way. This must be changed or we can all kiss our constitution goodbye, that is what's left of it after Bush anyway.
