Nina Basu
HayDuke likes District 13 House of Delegate’s Candidate Nina Basu’s idea to give tax breaks to low income workers. As a side note, I have been hearing that Nina has been really impressing the people she has been meeting when she has been out campaigning in the community. One of the first things I heard when I got back from my summer vacation was how impressed people were with her and since then I have been hearing a lot of buzz about how passionate, intelligence, and hard working she is and how refreshing her energy and forward thinking ideas on regional transit needs.

Thanks :)
I just wanted to add one point that the article missed - - the in-state administration of the EIC program (like in Minnesota), which would ease the sharp phaseouts of the Federal program.
EITC is, I think, an extremely important issue - and one that I think progressives, moderates, and even Republicans can agree on. It rewards work, increases income in the hands of the those who need it, and it drives economic growth. EITC has been a hugely successful anti-poverty measure on the Federal level. Moreover, Executive Duncan in Montgomery County has shown how a larger State EITC can vastly improve people's lives.
Nina, *Even Republicans*? Believe it or not, there are moderate Republicans.
No comment on the subject matter at this time - still looking into the numbers - but I'd thought I'd chime in on the remark above!! :-)
I meant that tongue firmly in cheek :)
Yes, there are moderate Republicans. And liberal or progressive Republicans.
At the end of the day, good policy does cut across party lines.
