CB-29

Kings Contrivance Village Board yesterday discussed CB 29 (the village center zoning bill) and will meet again next week to discuss it more. Kimco representatives came to the meeting, but the real highlight of the meeting was County Councilwoman Jen Terrasa. Though Councilwoman Terrasa is a very frequent attendee of Kings Contrivance Village Board meeting and I have seen her passion for finding the right outcome for her constituents and our county many times before, I have rarely seen the level of engagement from an elected official as I saw from Councilwoman Terrasa on Wednesday night. She is being extremely thorough in examining the bill and how the process it creates would function in practice.

If any council member votes against this bill, it'll be the shock heard round the county.

Sounds more like they're giving good effort at the pretense of not having made up their minds and the pretense of weighing this bill objectively.

Wasn't this the zra that had a 2-2 vote, ie., not passing, but against the rules of any other situation proceeded? It failed, if the vote was 2-2. Why was it pushed forward if the council had any intention of rearching appropriately?

It didn't pass the planning board, folks, and should not have been pushed to the council.

From the Planning Board Rules of Procedure:

" VOTING
A decision by the Board requires the concurrence of a majority of the Board members."

A 2-2 vote is NOT a majority, this was clearly defeated in the plan board but was pushed to the council by lawlessness that follows money to elected official's campaign accounts.

This action is no different that re-evaluating 10,000 signatures to disallow ballot access on land use issues. The law applies to some, but not all, very clearly.

The folks in West County can't get a single item passed even though the inappropriate land use decision will cost all taxpayers millions to fix roads to allow.

Think millions is too big? Opening Columbia to the cycle of money to electeds repaid with favorable decisions subsidized by taxpayer money will be heretofore unimagined.

The opinion of the Planning Board does not mean squat. Sigaty's Tower bill was rejected by the Planning Board, but she pushed forward with it anyway.

I now understand that cynicism is rampant even when complete unfounded. I can say with ABSOLUTE certainty that Councilwoman Terrasa is NOT making an pretenses here and truly cares about making this outcome the best it can be for the community.

If you are going to unfairly reject those that are honestly trying to find a solution, then you are part of the problem! It is way too easy to just criticize from the sidelines.

The tie at the planning board just means they failed to make a recommendation. It is the Zoning Board that has the final decision.
