Mt. Hebron Update - June 2008

Renovation, Rodents, Plumbing, and Asbestos


Renovation Committee Established.
Howard County Public School System agreed to "Help Mt. Hebron's" request to establish a committee to ensure the productive dialogue and communication between the community and the school system will continue throughout the renovation.

Rodent Intruders
The rodent sighted in the Home Economics room in mid May was determined to be a deer mouse based upon examination of droppings. Traps were set, barriers constructed at possible entry points.

Plumbing Incident
fresh water plumbing leak was caused by cracked pipe. The pipe was replaced.

Asbestos Abatement Planned.
Asbestos abatement ( legal - to end, to abate the nuisance) work will begin on June 19th and last through August 1st. The process will follow government regulations and standards. The air quality will be monitored regularly.

Md. Dept of Transportation - Public Notice

The Dept of Transportation sent out a public notice in reference to project planning that has been initiated, for I-70, from Md 32 (Sykesville Road) to US 29 (Columbia Pike)

Citizen involvement with the planning process is encouraged. The State Highway Administration is soliciting public comments, and a copy of the "Purpose and Needs Statement" can be obtained by contacting Mr. Oppenheimer as listed below.
